Does Zone 30 work without internet?
The GPS tracking works offline. An internet connection is needed once when you start monitoring to download the list of schools near you. After that, it works without data.
Why does it need my location?
Location access is the core function of the app — it's how Zone 30 knows when you're approaching a school zone. Your location is never stored or shared.
What if a school isn't in the database?
Zone 30 uses OpenStreetMap data. If a school is missing, anyone can add it at openstreetmap.org — it's a community-maintained map used by millions worldwide.
Does it work while I use Google Maps?
Keep Zone 30 open in a separate tab or split screen alongside your navigation app. The alerts will still sound even if your screen is on another app, as long as the browser tab stays active.
Is it free?
Yes, Zone 30 is completely free to use. It's supported by ads, which help keep the service running at no cost to you.
